These instructions can be downloaded below to be printed and taken with you to the airplane.
Critical Note: The USB port that is hard wired directly into the 37 pin SkyView display connector will not function on the latest hardware (HWV4) HDX screens. If you wish to have a panel mounted port for easier access to the screen USB ports, a USB extension cable may be plugged directly into the USB port on the back of the screen. We sell such an extension in several different lengths for this purpose.
Back Up Your Legacy SkyView Settings
- To export your existing settings, insert a USB stick on your legacy display.
- Press and hold buttons 7+8 to enter the setup menu.
- Export your settings via SYSTEM SOFTWARE > EXPORTS SETTINGS…
- Write down your Tach and Hobbs times. Go to SETUP MENUS > EMS SETUP > ENGINE INFORMATION > TACH / HOBBS TIMES. They are viewable in the settings export, but they will not be imported into your new displays and need to be set manually.
- Also, go to EMS SETUP > SENSOR INPUT MAPPING and take pictures or screen shots of all of the pin mapping settings. You will need to contact support via email at support@dynonavionics.com and send these pictures to us. We will need to look at them to determine how best to restore the bottom band widgets in the HDX.
Physical Installation of your New SkyView HDX
SkyView HDX fits in the same cutouts as SkyView Classic/Touch/SE, with a few minor differences:
-
10” display only: There will be a small gap underneath the display after replacement. A cover plate that utilizes the existing lower screw holes is included with your new display(s).
-
The bottom two screw holes for both the 10” and 7" displays are in a new location. You will need to drill new holes to accommodate them.
-
SkyView HDX uses a different style screw. They are included with your new display(s).
Loading Settings and Additional SkyView HDX Setup
Once the physical installation is complete and wiring harnesses are all attached complete the following in order.
- Power up the system including making sure autopilot servo's and Dynon Com radio is also powered as well.
- Install the USB thumb drive into the port on the display.
- Load the settings file you downloaded from your legacy screens using the LOAD FILES option in SYSTEM SOFTWARE.
- Repeat step 3 for all HDX screens in your aircraft
- In the setup menu's, go to SYSTEM SETUP > SKYVIEW NETWORK SETUP > CONFIGURE.
- It will likely show software mismatch on all remote modules, next go to SYSTEM SETUP > SKYVIEW NETWORK SETUP > FORCED NETWORK LOAD and force load the screen version of software on the remote modules to correct the mismatch.
- Go to EMS SETUP > ENGINE INFORMATION > TACH / HOBBS TIMES and enter Tach and Hobbs times from your old system.
- The system should be fully up and running at this point. You can configure the screen layouts to your liking by pressing the DISPLAY BUTTON, then pressing SETUP.
Notes: SkyView HDX’s EMS pages are available in 100%, 50%, and Bottom Band format. It does not have a 20% vertical page like your legacy SkyView did . Therefore, you will need to construct a new bottom band that is appropriate for your aircraft. It is possible we can send a file to restore the default bottom band, but we will need to look at the pictures taken of the SENSOR INPUT MAPPING before sending the file. This file will save a lot of work building your own bottom band from scratch, but it will need to be modified to suit your particular installation and preferences.
